Red Herrings in Dead Ends

Hi everyone. Been keeping my nose to the grindstone looking into all this XV3 stuff. I mentioned last month that I’ve been trying to figure out all this business with the lampreys. Well, I’ve been looking for them. Not leads, not clues.

First things first, I thought I ought to check all the local ponds, rivers, and waterways.

I went around my Grandads as I usually do afterschool. He agreed to take me fishing, spent a good four hours there and didn’t find a thing – would like to have spent longer but my Mum found us, hopefully I’ll still be able to visit Grandad.

So, I tried pouring pigs blood into them. I went to Mr. Guthrum’s butchers and, weirdly, he didn’t seem inclined to sell me any. Instead, I just bought loads of meat and threw it in the canal on the end of a line – still nothing.

I moved on. Rolling with the punches. Drainage pipes. Now, as we all know the drainage commission can be fishy. Naturally I couldn’t let the lizards know what I was up to, so I snuck into the sewers…. for three days…

Would not recommend it.

Nothing. Again. I looked over the public accounts of the victims (none of them would talk to me privately).

Nothing.

So, the lampreys turned out to be herrings. Red herrings. I suppose red lampreys is more appropriate: what with the bloodlettings. They’re a dead end. I’m still certain XV3 is behind whatever’s happening, but what that is, I don’t know.

If anyone, anywhere has any information about what could be happening to my town then please, please email me at queenpreston2019@gmail.com
